Fog Dreams

I love snow

Not to drive in

Just to look at

I love how it transforms everything

And the world is suddenly covered in innocence

And the cold stings your face

And warms your heart

And there are possibilities sparkling back at you

People in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Don’t dream of a white Christmas

It’s pretty much guaranteed

But here in Modesto, California

Dreaming of a white Christmas

Could be considered a waste of time

I will invest in dreams of fog

A heavy dense fog that covers everything

And the whole city is transformed

The neighbor’s car parked on their lawn

Becomes shrouded in mystery

The canal seems like the magic river

That flows from Disneyland’s castle

Christmas lights sparkling through the fog

Beckon me to adventure

I walk and let the fog seep deeper into my brain

The pre-packaged Christmas present I bought off the shelf at Walmart

Is really someone’s perfect gift

The Christmas cookies and eggnog lattes

Really have no weight-watcher points

The extra high notes in the carols I am singing

Are automatically filled in by angel choirs

Wishing you a foggy and merry Christmas!
