On Cars and Omelets

Dear Lord I want to thank You

for always being there

And I’m grateful I can count on You

to listen to my prayer

This prayer is about my husband’s driving

and I’m sure that You can see

That he expects to drive from point A to point B

But other drivers don’t cooperate

and they get in his way

And sometimes they even cut him off

and make him use his brakes

And my husband thinks the drivers

plot and scheme to ruin his day

And then he uses words that I never hear him say

Lord, you know this is distressing to me

-so meek and mild

And when I drive, I never go too fast or get too wild

I ignore all the honking when I’m driving 25

I go slow and smell the flowers

It’s so great to be alive!

Just last night, Lord. I made omelets

And I chopped up all the veggies

Then I beat the eggs so vigorously

I had planned to cook with ease

I poured into the omelet pan

imagining it would be

Just like a pretty picture

in a cooking magazine

But the omelet got stuck and came out one lumpy mess

Pots and pans went flying everywhere

and I Screamed- I must confess!

And my sweet adoring husband said he’d eat it anyway

But that didn’t calm the cook or make the anger go away

Oh, dear Lord I am digressing- I must get back to prayer

And I want to thank you once again for always being there

I am reading Matthew chapter 7, but before I turn the page

I ask You Lord just one more time- Help my spouse with his road rage!
